Along the Adirondack Mountains in the state New York, is the small village of Lake Placid. The population is roughly 2,600 residences. Lake Placid lies just 50 miles southwest of Plattsburgh. Nearby lakes include Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, all of which make up the Tri-Lakes region. This well-known area is highly sought after during the colder months for its variety of winter sports like skiing, both Nordic and Alpine. With Whiteface Mountain being just 13 miles away, it provides hiking, gondola rides, and mountain biking. The village is located at the south end of the lake and consists of 1.5 square miles.
