Virgin Islands

The Virgin Islands are in the Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico. It’s comprised of 58 square miles of islands that include Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke, and includes more than 50 smaller surrounding cays and islands. The entirety of this area includes nearly 60 tropical islands that vary in size. The largest of the islands, Tortola, is 12 miles long and is where BVI’s capital Road Town is found. The smallest of the islands are a collection of uninhabited islets that are roughly 3 miles wide and extend out for almost 58 square miles, most of which are volcanic in origin. All the islands are hilly and rugged in terrain. To the north of the islands is the North Atlantic Ocean, with many islands outside the four primary ones that include: Beef Island, Cooper Island, Ginger Island, Great Camanoe, Great Thatch, Guana Island, Little Thatch, Mosquito Island, Necker Island, Norman Island, Peter Island, Salt Island, Prickly Pear, Eustatia, Saba Rock, Frenchman’s Cay, Nanny Cay, Scrub Island, Sandy Cay, Green Cay, Sandy Spit, Little Jost Van Dyke, Great Tobago, Little Tobago, and the Dog Islands.
